New Policy For Collection Of Bedding

To do our part to stop the spread of bedbugs and protect personnel and our community from this health issue, the town has issued new collection practices for bedding placed on curbside for collection. When discarding bedding, a mattress or box spring, the item must be enclosed in a sealed bedbug proof encasement bag. Heavy duty plastic bags that new mattresses are delivered in may also be used. The mattress must be completely sealed inside the bag. Cases may be purchased at local home improvement stores and department stores and some bedding stores.

Special Pick-Ups are made by calling the District 223-3207 any business day between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00 pm.

Special Pick-Ups cannot be scheduled on this website.

Requests for Special Pick-Ups are on a first come basis.

There are three types of Special Pick-Ups: regular, metal, and E-cycle and the scheduling time may be different.

Only those items listed on the Special Pick up request will be collected.

Items must be placed at the curb. No collection will be made from private property.

WARNING
The District will not accept for disposal any material deemed hazardous or toxic.
Such materials include gasoline, benzene, kerosene, turpentine, explosives, cartridges,
lacquer, industrial cleaning fluids, or large amounts of pesticides.

In 1989 the Solid Waste Association of North American selected Sanitary District #2, as having the best curbside Recycling program in the United States.
