Hazardous Waste


Sanitary District No. 2 and the Town of Hempstead prohibit the unauthorized disposal of any type of hazardous materials at or on any of their facilities.

The Town of Hempstead provides special collection days when Town residents may bring hazardous household waste to a designated site. This program is known as the Town of Hempstead “STOP THROWING OUT POLLUTANTS” or “S.T.O.P.” program.

ANY PERSON DROPPING OFF MATERIALS DEEMED TO BE HAZARDOUS IS IN SERIOUS VIOLATION OF FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY AND TOWN ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS AND WILL BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW.
