The Board of Commissioners of Sanitary District No. 2 is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Carl DeHaney Jr. of Roosevelt as Commissioner. Commissioner DeHaney will fill the seat that was vacated by the passing of Commissioner Dennis Meekins.
A lifetime resident of Roosevelt, Commissioner DeHaney is married to Kimberly. They have two children, Carl III & Kayla.
Commissioner DeHaney is no stranger to public service. He is a past Trustee of the Roosevelt School Board, the Roosevelt Library Board, the Freeport/Roosevelt Chapter of the NAACP and the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce. He is currently an active member of the Roosevelt Revitalization Group.
In addition to the service to his community, Commissioner DeHaney has spent the past ten years working for the Nassau County Department of Social Services and is currently the Special Assistant to the Commissioner.
When asked about his appointment to the Sanitary District 2 Board, Commissioner DeHaney stated that he is honored to have the opportunity to serve the residents of this District and that he looks forward to working in the community on Quality of Life issues.
